Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Merlot based red blend from Stags’ Leap Winery opens with a chocolate and red currant bouquet with hints of fruitcake, coffee, and oak. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, silky smooth, seamless, dense, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is black raspberry and stone dust blend with notes of stewed black plum and oak. We also detected hints of rhubarb, craisin, red licorice, and tobacco. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and moderate dusty tannins linger and last for a while. We would pair this excellent red blend with a roasted pork tenderloin with raspberry sauce or with grilled lamb lollipops. Enjoy - KWGTP
