Wine Review: This deep purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Susana Balbo is an excellent value. It opens with a rooted earthy bouquet of blackberry, eucalyptus, new leather and oak. The full-bodied palate is round, dusty and dry. The flavor profile is a slightly tart black cherry and blackberry blend with notes of black licorice and oak. I also detected hints of blueberry, vanilla and spices. The finish is smooth and features dry vibrant tannins that fade away nicely. I would recommend decanting this Cab for an hour or so. Then I would pair this terrific value Cab with a prime rib. - Joe

Winemaker Notes: A pure expression of the varietal, with aromas of plum, currant, espresso and mocha tinged with spice and smoke from the French oak. Herbal notes, bright acidity and fine tannins create balance and structure on the palate. Pairs well with grilled and roasted meats and chili.
