Wine Review: This hazy deep purple colored Malbec from Tapiz opens with a fragrant black currant and black licorice bouquet with hints of violet, cinnamon, and paraffin. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, silky smooth, fresh, and seamless. The flavor profile is a blueberry and black plum blend with notes of fresh mint and black cherry-cola. We also detected hints of spice and cedar. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and well-managed fine gentle tannins linger nicely. We would pair this versatile Malbec with a filet mignon or a grilled leg of lamb. Winemaker Notes: This intense purple colored Malbec displays flavors and aromas reminiscent of ripe red fruits, dried plums, figs, fruits compote and jams. Has a nose with very subtle floral and menthol notes. Its passage through oak provides notes of dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Presence of sweet and ripe tannins. A specimen with an elegant personality, intense in flavor and an impeccable balance.
