Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel from Contra Costa County opens with a black raspberry and prune bouquet with a hint of oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with moderate acidity. The mouthfeel is smooth. The flavor profile is a black raspberry and blackberry blend with notes of stewed black plums and woody influences. We also detected hints of black pepper, fig, and a dried red pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors and medium tannins linger nicely. This rustic Zin would pair well with smoked beef brisket. Enjoy – Ken & Joe
