Wine Review: This clear and deep yellow colored Chardonnay from Tongue Dancer is very good. It opens with a gentle lemon verbena bouquet with hints of pineapple, oak, and bee’s wax candle. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and bright. The flavor profile is a tasty Anjou pear and mild pineapple blend with notes of lemon tea, mild minerality, and gentle oak. I also detected hints of white nectarine and caramel candy chews jn the aftertaste. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity linger nicely. Theresa and I really enjoyed this Chard. We would pair it with your favorite crabcake recipe. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Wow! What a difference a vintage makes. This fresh and vibrant 9th vintage of our golden honeysuckle girl just did a 180 and deviated from all of her past vintages. This energetic and high-toned Chardonnay decided to let Mother Nature lead her on a path of self-discovery. 2023’s cold weather gave her a leaner version of her usual rounded self. Does she still smell and taste like lemons and pears? Yes, but the richness and texture have been taken down a few notches, and now there’s a lower alcohol and a higher acidity. Although besties with the sun, this time she made new friends with the cold and the rain. And guess what? They’ve decided to make beautiful music together. This is a Chardonnay for the ages, and age well she will. Give her some time to open up for you - it’ll be well worth the wait.
