Wine Review: This midnight black colored Cabernet Sauvignon from V. Sattui is impressive. It opens with a mild and attractive black currant bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied, balanced and savory. The flavor profile is a spicy black currant and black plum blend with notes of anise and oak. I also detected hints of graphite and a touch of black olive. The finish is dry and its flavors and its very sticky tannins show very nice length. This Cab is a bit on the pricy side, but it certainly delivers. It could certainly benefit from some time in your cellar. If you can’t wait, decant it for 30+ minutes and serve it with a well-marbled ribeye. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: From a stand-alone single-vineyard perched on top of a narrow eastern bench high above Napa Valley comes the V. Sattui 2016 "Vangone Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon. Named the Vangone Vineyard because it came with an old, abandoned van that the owners could not get rid of. The grapes grown on this 20-acre lot are special.
