Wine Review: This medium purple colored Zinfandel from Lodi opens with a blackberry and cinnamon raisin bouquet with a hint of hoisin. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a red raspberry and boysenberry blend with notes of plump raisins and mint. I also detected hints of Chinese 5 spice, oak and Oolong tea. The finish is dry and its flavors are nicely prolonged. This fruity Zin from Lodi is a refreshing red that could be served cool on a hot summer day. I would pair it with a charcuterie platter. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: Our Pilgrim Zinfandel is a very rich and fleshy, full-bodied wine that could benefit by up to another two or three years of bottle-age. Big and chewy, with aromas of blueberries and violets, this is a rich, complex and deeply flavored wine. There is ample Zinfandel spice, both black pepper and baking spices. Its tannins are soft and there's an elegance about this wine that is not found in many Zinfandels, which often tend to be very fruit-forward. Layers of licorice, pipe tobacco and sweet oak add further interest in this already very drinkable wine.
