Wine Review: This medium purple colored Zinfandel opens with a Ticonderoga #2 pencil lead and black raspberry bouquet with hints of fruitcake, black currant, and violets. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, concentrated, and a little mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a very fruit forward stewed black plum and tart black raspberry blend with notes of graphite, spice, and green olive. We also detected hints of strawberry, tobacco, and burnt sugar. The finish is dry and its mild tannins and flavors drift away nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this Zin with smoked brisket and smoked beef ribs. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Our 2019 Gilsson Vineyard Zinfandel opens beautifully with bright aromas of raspberry and rhubarb, a surprise given its rich dark purple color which foreshadows the depth and complexity that follows through with notes of vanilla and toasted oak. Its lighter style on the palate presents a refreshing tart cranberry flavor, which is elegantly balanced by soft tannins for an easy drinking experience, a perfect wine for any occasion.
