Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel from V. Sattui was very thought provoking. It opens with a black cherry, cedar, and vanilla bouquet with hints of red raspberry and chocolate. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, smooth, and layered. The flavor profile is a delicious black cherry and vanilla-cola blend with notes of Canada mints and cinnamon. We also detected some hints of herbal tea and chocolate covered strawberries. The finish is dry, and its managed moderate tannins linger and last for a while. The Tasting Panel certainly could enjoy this Zin on its own. With food we would pair it with a pepper encrusted venison tenderloin or with a seared duck breast with a pomegranate reduction sauce. Enjoy – KWGTP
