Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Zinfandel from VGS is very good. It opens with a faint black cherry bouquet with hints of paraffin wax. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty boysenberry with notes of black tea, minerality and oak. We also detected hints of plum. The finish is dry and its tannins build-up and linger for quite some time. We would pair this impressive Zin with pan-seared duck breast with sweet potatoes, spinach and onions. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: As a whole 2016 is a beautiful vintage. It has an attractive and rich nose of fully ripe raspberries, blackberries, a little bit of plum and fig which evolves into complex flavors of spices like sage, vanilla, black pepper, and nutmeg. In the mouth, the wine shows great weight with mild tannins. The French oak is fully integrated and fully contributes to the expression of the flavors and make it the wine feel full and round with a very long finish.
