Wine Review: This slightly cloudy and dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from VGS Chateau Potelle opens with a black currant and cigar box bouquet with hints of cinnamon tea and black cherry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and seamless with nice finesse. The flavor profile is spiced red plum and cedar blend with notes of tobacco and black currant. We also detected hints of red licorice, black cherry, cardamom, and cinnamon. The finish is dry and its flavors, acidity, and its refined moderate tannins linger and last for quite some time. We would pair this Cab with a filet mignon. Enjoy – KWGTP
8/7/24 Review - This ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from VGS opens with cedar and black cherry bouquet with hints of red licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and seamless. The flavor profile is graphite and cassis blend with notes of black tea and black cherry. We also detected hints of black licorice and cardamom. The finish is dry, and its well-managed moderate refined dusty tannins are very nicely sustained. We would pair this Cab with a New York strip steak. Enjoy – Ken (94.5)
Winemaker Notes: The 2021 vintage was fantastic, and although a little young we can see the great future this wine holds. We recommend holding this wine in your cellar if you have the patience, as it will shine as it ages. The initial bouquet at exhibits blue & black fruits like blueberries, plums, black cherries & blackberries. Baking spices of cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg add an extra dusting of complexity. A great expression from this renowned appellation.
