Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel from VGS Chateau Potelle opens with a fig and stewed black plum bouquet with hints of fruitcake and prune. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, refined, and seamless. The flavor profile is a gentle black plum and mild mocha blend with notes of cinnamon tea and stone dust. We also detected hints of cedar and tobacco. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and well-managed refined dusty tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this Zin with N.Y. strip steak. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Our 32nd vintage of VGS Zinfandel…and this one has claimed its spot firmly in the Top Ten List! Aromatically this wine is so deep and rich with notes of dark fruits like blackberries, Bing cherries and wild blueberries. On the palate, those same dark fruits continue to dominate, accented nicely with warm spices such as freshly cracked black pepper and anise with sweet and savory espresso beans, and black licorice.
