Wine Review: This ruby colored Cabernet Franc from VGS Chateau Potelle opens with a wild strawberry and fresh mint bouquet with hints of leather and chocolate. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a unique blend of strawberry jam and red plum blend with notes of graphite and red raspberry. We also detected hints of nutmeg and cinnamon tea. The finish is dry and its flavors, acidity, and its dusty tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this Cab Franc with eggplant parmigiana. Enjoy - KWGTP.
Winemaker Notes: This wine opens with an exquisite bouquet! A blend of effusive aromas of blueberry, black tea, mountain sage, mocha, roasted coffee, as well as hints of toasted hazelnut, vanilla, cedar, tobacco. Both elegant and intense, this wine showcases Cabernet Franc’s natural complexity. When the wine enters your palate…you can't not smile. It is so all you expected from a great Cabernet Franc: medium-bodied but full, round, ample, rich with a silky texture. The flavors of wild berry, anise, and white pepper are underscored by melted tannins, with a note of earthy richness adding sophistication to a long and beautifully balanced finish. The 2023 VGS Cabernet Franc is a serious mountain grown wine that will be beautiful to enjoy as it ages if you have the patience. The future is bright for this baby!
