Wine Review: This pitch-black colored Petite Sirah from Varozza was a top finisher in our recent blind tasting. It opens with a prune and black olive bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, super smooth and velvety. The flavor profile is a tasty blackberry and anise blend with notes of toasted oak and black tea. We also detected hints of minerality. The finish is dry and its tannins build-up and last for a very long time. The Panel described this Petite Sirah as hedonistic and I would pair it with Roy’s rib roast. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Our heritage Petite Sirah vines were small in production but over the top in flavor in 2015. The aromas are composed of fig compote, graphite pencil shavings and cocoa nibs. The palate is met with flavors of dark roasted coffee, blackberry and peppercorns. The tannins are massive in structure but well integrated, creating great texture with a creamy mouthfeel. This pairs well with short ribs, venison, and BBQ.
