Wine Review: This deep purple to jet-black colored Syrah from Pasterick opens with a mild black licorice and blueberry bouquet with a hint of cured meat. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, rich and savory. The flavor profile is a gentle black olive and mild blackberry blend with notes of integrated minerality and oak. I also detected hints of black plum, black licorice and a dash of black cardamom. The finish is dry and its refined tannins drift away nicely. This aged Syrah is still a current release and is showing very nicely right now. Grab some soon and serve with a filet mignon. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our Dry Creek Valley 2014 Estate Syrah is a very deep and sensual wine. In the glass, it displays an intense, dark color, an almost light bending black. You will find essences of dark blue-black fruits, along with complex aromas of anise, vanilla, bay laurel, olive, smoked meats, and mocha.
