Wine Review: From the Rheinhessen region of Germany, this Riesling is pale golden yellow colored. It displays aromas of honeydew, wet slate, green apple, ocean breeze, and a whiff of lime and tangerine citrus. The mouthfeel is lightly viscous and round, with plus acidity and a medium-minus body. Ripe fruit lends a very light residual sweetness to this crisp, pure, and approachable wine. There are flavors of apricot, ash, honeydew, lime zest, lemon juice, and chalky minerality with a note of saline. The finish is zesty and nicely extended with a pleasant bitter note. Serve lightly chilled with a tuna poke bowl. - Mark
Winemaker Notes: A beautifully proportioned dry Riesling from the leader of biodynamic viticulture in Germany’s Rheinhessen region. The Wittmann Estate Riesling Trocken is harvested by hand from estate-owned vineyards around the village of Westhofen, in the southern part of the Rheinhessen region. It is fermented with native yeasts and matured in large, neutral oak casks. This forceful, yet elegant, Riesling shows the stately character of this region and the artistic sensibilities of the Wittmann family.
