Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Tempranillo from St. Amant opens with a dark cherry and nutty bouquet with hints of tobacco and vanilla. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, smooth, and dense. The flavor profile features a blend of dark cherries and stewed plum with notes of gentle tobacco, molasses cookie, and fig. I also detected hints of star anise, blueberry, and orange zest. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and its moderate polished tannins drift away nicely. The flavors a slight touch of heat with make this a favorite for port lovers. With food, I would pair this very good Tempranillo with pecans and sweet sausage stuffed mushrooms. Enjoy - Ken
