Wine Review: This dark garnet colored red blend from Quinta Nova in Portugal opens with a cranberry and fresh cut cedar bouquet with hints of wet stone. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and round. The flavor profile is a tangy plum and Australian soft black licorice blend with notes of espresso, cranberry, and bitter 95% dark chocolate. I also detected hints of black pepper, cinnamon, and oak. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and medium tannins linger nicely. I would pair this Portuguese red blend with a shredded venison ragù. Enjoy - Ken
