Wine Review: This clear and light red colored Pinot Noir from Saracina opens with a fragrant a cherry-cola and pencil lead bouquet with hints of cedar. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and fresh. The flavor profile is a light black cherry and gentle cola blend with notes of mild cedar. I also detected hints of raspberry and green tea. The finish is dry and its flavors, acidity, and fine dusty tannins drift away nicely. I would pair the Pinot with cherry amaretto chicken. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: The lasting impression of this 2022 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is one of delicacy and elegance. It has an ethereal, perfumed nose of sweet raspberry and cherry. The tannins are light on their feet, and ample acidity keeps it nervy, balanced, and penetrating.

On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, we had the opportunity to interview Martha Stoumen. Martha is the winemaker and owner of Martha Stoumen Wines. We covered three white wines, two rosé wines, and three red wines with Martha. Martha is not your typical California winemaker. She uses lesser-known grapes, makes atypical blends, and has a unique style. You can read about these unique wines and other tidbits we learned from Martha in our latest blog post. Winemaker Interview Series – Cole Ballentine of Predecessor - April 2025

On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, we had the opportunity to interview Cole Ballentine. Cole is the co-winemaker, with his father William Ballentine Jr., at Predecessor Estate. Cole and his father-built Predecessor Estate to reunite the mountain with their ancestors who once farmed the area. We covered Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon wines from both the 2018 and the 2021 vintages. We also covered the Predecessor Estate reserve Cabernet Sauvignon named "Lorraine" from both the 2016 and the 2108 vintages. These are super-premium offerings; very little of each was made. You can read about these special wines and other tidbits we learned from Cole in our latest blog post. Read This Blog Post
