Wine Review: This clear and medium gold colored Chardonnay from Domaine Anderson opens with a warm buttered Italian bread and Barlett pear bouquet with hints of almond and dried herbs. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, edgy, and a little sassy. The flavor profile is a slightly tart lime and honey blend with notes of chamomile and Anjou pear. We also detected hints of almond, ginger, light oak, and a dash of white pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity linger nicely. We would pair this Chard with a brown trout baked in a white wine-capers sauce. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Aromas of fresh lime and crunchy pear are lifted by delicate notes of sun-dried lemongrass with a subtle touch of toasty oak. The palate is creamy and rich, yet finely balanced and expansive. Flavors of hazelnut and lime intertwine with a salty, mineral edge, carrying through to a bright lemony finish. Pairs beautifully with whole lobster with butter, or roasted lemon chicken.

The fall is a perfect time to plan a visit to Virginia Wine country. Ken and the KWG Tasting Panel have been covering the winning wines from the Virginia Governor’s Cup for years. Recently, our coverage has expanded beyond just the Governor’s Cup winners. Ken has been so impressed with Virginia wines that Theresa and he visited some wineries in the Charlottesville region in October of 2024. We highly recommend that you check out the six Virginia wineries in this post. We will start from the south near Charlottesville in the Monticello AVA and make our way north. Read This Blog Post
