Wine Review: This ruby colored Cabernet Franc from Wölffer opens with a leather and nutmeg bouquet with hints of red cherry, iris, and bay leaf. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, very smooth, and seamless. The flavor profile is a mulberry and cinnamon blend with notes of oak, stone dust, and black tea. We also detected hints of nutmeg, mint, and orange peel. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and moderate dusty tannins are nicely extended with a touch of heat. We would pair this New York Cab Franc with a French duck cassoulet or with a grilled steak with rosemary and thyme. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: White Horse wines embody the strong heritage and high quality of Wölffer Estate. The 2021 Cabernet Franc is dark ruby in color. Displays beautiful aromas of dark berries with violets and fine sandalwood. The wine has a deep rich core of fine prune and dried fig notes. The mouthfeel is rich and concentrated but with elegant ripe jammy fruit backed by licorice and layers of velvet tannins. There are well-integrated toasty oak notes and a deep richness with great minerality and elegance. The finish is smooth, savory and long; this wine will age greatly for decades. This is a very complex wine that shows how perfect our terroir is to produce world class, ripe and balanced Cabernet Francs. This wine pairs beautifully with lamb, pheasant, veal, or mushroom dishes.
