Wine Review: This clear and medium ruby colored Zinfandel from Woodenhead opens with a marionberry and mushroom bouquet with hints of black raspberry, mocha, and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, round, fresh, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a cinnamon and marionberry blend with notes of cranberry and bay leaf. We also detected hints of stone dust, nutmeg, red plum, and white pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and refined moderate tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this Zin with a baked honey ham or with chicken teriyaki skewers. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Most of the vineyard was planted in 1947 (Carignane, Charbono, Zinfandel) by Guido Venturi. True to the Guido Venturi signature, the nose opens with rich bramble and underbrush, intertwined with warm woody bark, a veil of dusty earth, and herbal whispers of sage and dried oregano. A vivid plum core anchors these elements, offering both allure and restraint. The 2023 Guido Zinfandel remains a perfect pairing for a gourmet mushroom cheeseburger.
