Wine Review: This opaque and midnight purple colored Zinfandel from Mauritson opens with a stewed black plum and wet stone bouquet with hints of black raspberry and cola. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a layered blackberry and black raspberry blend with notes of black cherry-cola and stone dust. We also detected hints of oak, tobacco, and cinnamon. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and dusty tannins are nicely sustained. We would pair this Zin with dry rubbed baby back ribs with a Memphis barbecue sauce. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Our 2023 Mauritson Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley is perfumy and intoxicating on the nose. Crushed summer blackberry, kirsch, sweet floral spice and essence of tangerine rind mingle beautifully with warm toasted pie crust, fresh ground almond paste and vanilla pod aromas. On the palate, this Zinfandel is energetic and multi-faceted. Details of fresh dark fruit with undertones of roasted coffee bean give way to a core of inviting, velvety tannins and a long fresh finish. For early enjoyment, we recommend decanting, however, this incredible Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel will be even more rewarding with 1-2 years of bottle age and will age gorgeously for 10+ years.
