Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel based wine from V. Sattui opens with a fragrant black raspberry and black licorice bouquet with hints of currant and wet stone. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, lush, fresh, and bright. The flavor profile is a blackberry and spiced black plum blend with notes of graphite and black tea. I also detected hints of black cherry and licorice. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and moderate tannins linger and last for quite some time. I would pair this red blend with steak fajitas. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: Our 2021 Sattui Family Red is a delightful combination of fruit that has been sourced from our three estate properties: Carsi Vineyard, Vittorio’s Vineyard and Hibbard Ranch. This expressive red blend opens with generous aromas blackberry and raspberry complemented by notes of blueberry and a hint of dried basil. On the palate, layers of red currant and black plum unfold alongside subtle cocoa powder, creating a smooth, plush texture. The well-integrated tannins provide seamless structure, leading to a soft yet lingering finish. We find this wine to be yummy, easy drinking, and satisfying. Perfect for any day of the week.
