Wine Review: This clear and medium straw colored Sauvignon Blanc from Lasseter opens with a fragrant gooseberry and white peach bouquet with hints of grapefruit pith, pineapple, and asparagus. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, seamless and bright. The flavor profile is a tart lime zest and gooseberry blend and yellow grapefruit pith blend with notes of pineapple and vanilla. We also detected hints of lychee, nectarine, and asparagus. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity linger nicely before drifting away. We would pair this Sauvignon Blanc with grilled swordfish skewers or seared scallops with lemon butter. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Subtle tropical aromas open to an elegant, flavorful palate of pear and citrus, accented with a hint of vanilla. The rich mouthfeel is balanced by bright acidity, and a touch of spice over a long finish.

Winemaker Interview Series – Cole Ballentine of William Cole – Jan 2026

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, we interviewed Cole Ballentine once again. Cole is the co-winemaker, with his father William Ballentine Jr., at William Cole Winery. We first interviewed Cole when we covered his super-premium Predecessor Estate wines in April of 2025. This time around, we covered six wines from the William Cole winery. We started with a 2023 Chardonnay. Then we tried a 2022 red blend. From there, we covered four Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Those Cabs were from the following vintages: 2018, 2022, 2016, and 2009. It was a terrific portfolio tasting. In this post, you can learn what is new with Cole, learn about the William Cole Winery, and read our reviews of all of these impressive wines.
