Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Merlot and Malbec based red blend from J. Lohr opens with a mild black cherry and tobacco bouquet with hints of pencil lead. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, supple, and fresh. The flavor profile is a black currant and black plum blend with notes of graphite and cocoa. I also detected hints of tobacco. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and managed dusty tannins linger and last for a very long time. I would pair this red blend with slow cooker beef stew. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Attractive aromas of black cherry, peppermint, and Japanese plum dusted with dark cocoa powder. On the palate, loads of concentrated fresh raspberry that finishes with accents of crushed violet, peppercorn, and flaky pie crust. Pair with Spanish paella or a grilled ribeye with shallots.
