Wine Review: This midnight black colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Crossbarn opens with a pencil shaving and boysenberry bouquet with hints of chocolate, cassis, and a touch of strawberry. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and a bit savory. The flavor profile is a graphite and boysenberry blend with notes of cola, black pepper, and oak. We also detected hints of black tea and blueberry. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and moderate dusty tannins have nice length. We would pair this Cab with grilled hanger steak or with grilled steak frites. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Deep garnet with trace of ruby red along its rim, this debut release offers savory aromas of Santa Rosa red plum and boysenberry intertwined with spiced notes of cigar box, cedar, and sage. Black cherry and dried red fruits are lifted by a hint of crunchy sea salt salinity on the palate. Ultra fine-grained tannins supported by mineral driven acidity carry the wine expansively through the midpalate, lending tension through the long, elegant finish.
