Wine Review: This hazy and dark garnet colored Red Blend from Arborum is one of the top 2022 California vintage Cabernet based wines we have covered. It opens with a very fragrant black currant and black cherry bouquet with hints of dried coconut. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, very bright. and lively for a 2022. The flavor profile is a cassis and blueberry blend with notes of stony minerality and black tea. We also detected hints of oak and black licorice. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and it rather dusty tannins stick around for a very long time. We would decant this impressive Red Blend for a very long time, before pairing it with a well-marbled ribeye steak. Enjoy - Ken & Stuart
Winemaker Notes: The 2022 Arborum Proprietary Red wine shows the strength of our estate vineyard. Full of energy, the resulting wine presents excellent structure, mouth-watering intensity, and a surprising brightness that belies the dark black-red color in the glass. Aromas of black cherry, graphite, orange peel, and leather jump out as the wine is poured. On the palate, the wine is balanced and expansive; the acidity adds a cool sensation, and ample tannin holds the wine firmly together. Extended barrel aging for 26 months allowed the texture to be gently burnished, giving the final product a silkiness wrapped around the powerful core. This wine is very alluring right now, and with its youthful energy, it will take on ever stronger character with time in the bottle.
