Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Syrah from the Foxy and the Hounds Vineyard in Carneros opens with an inviting Australian black licorice and new leather bouquet with hints of blackberry, black coffee, and dark chocolate. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, seamless, and rich. The flavor profile is a concentrated blackberry and cedar blend with notes of black olive and black licorice. We also detected hints of black coffee, tobacco, and black pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and moderate polished tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this bold Syrah with a venison steak. Enjoy - KWGTP
