Wine Review: This clear and light coral colored Rosé of Pinot Noir from Sojourn is a crowd-pleaser. It opens with a mild strawberry and wet stone bouquet with hints of dried herbs and green tea. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and seamless. The flavor profile is stony minerality and mild raspberry tea blend with notes of dried herbs and saline. I also detected a touch of lime at the very end. The finish is dry, and drifts away nicely. This Rosé is easy to quaff. It goes down easy and will not last long serve slightly chilled at the beach with friends. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: This wine is a blend of Pinot Noir from eight unique Sonoma Coast vineyards, ranging from Annapolis in the far north to the Petaluma Gap in the south. The 2024 Sojourn wines offer exceptional overall quality and show wonderful depth, intensity, and balance. The Rosé of Pinot Noir was harvested at night and is a blend of saignée and pressed wine. The juice was fermented at low temperatures to maintain delicate aromatics and fresh fruit character.

On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, we had the opportunity to interview Martha Stoumen. Martha is the winemaker and owner of Martha Stoumen Wines. We covered three white wines, two rosé wines, and three red wines with Martha. Martha is not your typical California winemaker. She uses lesser-known grapes, makes atypical blends, and has a unique style. You can read about these unique wines and other tidbits we learned from Martha in our latest blog post. Winemaker Interview Series – Cole Ballentine of Predecessor - April 2025

On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, we had the opportunity to interview Cole Ballentine. Cole is the co-winemaker, with his father William Ballentine Jr., at Predecessor Estate. Cole and his father-built Predecessor Estate to reunite the mountain with their ancestors who once farmed the area. We covered Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon wines from both the 2018 and the 2021 vintages. We also covered the Predecessor Estate reserve Cabernet Sauvignon named "Lorraine" from both the 2016 and the 2108 vintages. These are super-premium offerings; very little of each was made. You can read about these special wines and other tidbits we learned from Cole in our latest blog post. Read This Blog Post
