Wine Review: This clear and platinum colored Kabinett level Riesling from Dr. Loosen opens with a white peach and ginger bouquet with hints of lemon-lime and apricot. On the palate, this wine is light bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is initially bracing, then settles in to be bright and zippy. The flavor profile is lime and tonic water blend with notes of white peach and green tea. We also detected hints of candied orange, apricot, and pear. The finish is pleasantly sweet, and its flavors and acidity fade away nicely. We would pair this Riesling with a peach cobbler or with pad Thai. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: A thrilling and vibrant Riesling in the lighter Kabinett style, from red slate soil in the Mosel's "little staircase" vineyard. The Erdener Treppchen vineyard is so steep that, long ago, stone steps were built into the hillside to help workers reach the vines. The iron-infused, red slate soil produces wines that are muscular and complex, with an intense mineral finish. The Kabinett from Erdener Treppchen is picked early in the harvest and is a precocious wine, with dense core of fruit, an elegant yet muscular structure, and a gently drying finish.
