Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinot Noir from Calera opens with a black raspberry and cola blend with hints of plum, loam, and cinnamon. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and savory. The flavor profile is a black raspberry and steely minerality blend with notes of black pepper, oak, and loam. I also detected hints of fig, black plum and black licorice. The finish is dry, and its flavors and moderate tannins linger briefly. I would pair this Pinot with grilled steak fajitas. Enjoy - Ken

The fall is a perfect time to plan a visit to Virginia Wine country. Ken and the KWG Tasting Panel have been covering the winning wines from the Virginia Governor’s Cup for years. Recently, our coverage has expanded beyond just the Governor’s Cup winners. We highly recommend that you check out the six Virginia wineries in this post. We will start from the south near Charlottesville in the Monticello AVA and make our way north. Read This Blog Post
