Wine Review: This opaque and midnight purple colored Petite Sirah from St. Amant opens with a musty bramble berry and black licorice bouquet with hints of bacon fat. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, slightly viscous, and zesty. The flavor profile is a black licorice and black pepper blend with notes of blackberry and dark chocolate. I also detected hints of blueberry, black tea, and just a touch of peach in the aftertaste. The finish is dry, and its flavors, lively acidity, and moderate tannins linger and last for a while. I would pair this Petite Sirah with a tangy pulled pork platter. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Blackberry Bramble * Blueberry * Spice

Recently, our coverage has expanded beyond just the Governor’s Cup winners. Ken has been so impressed with Virginia wines that Theresa and he visited some wineries in the Charlottesville region in October of 2024. We highly recommend that you check out the six Virginia wineries in this post. We will start from the south near Charlottesville in the Monticello AVA and make our way north. Read This Blog Post
