Wine Review: This deep purple colored Shiraz from Mollydooker is excellent! It opens with a shy blackberry and vanilla bouquet with hints of red cherry compote and violets. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, very dense, and has nice tension. The flavor profile is a concentrated boysenberry and mulberry blend with notes of chocolate covered cherry cordial and black licorice. We also detected hints of oak and some pomegranate. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and sticky medium plus tannins are nicely sustained. We would recommend doing the Mollydooker Shake before pairing this rich Shiraz with Roy’s rib roast or with beef bourguignon. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This is as life should be. A Carnival of Love. A place where everyone wants to be, and no one wants to leave. The 2023 Carnival of Love makes a striking impression. It is deep and inky in color. Its powerful yet delicate nature is highlighted by lifted aromas of red cherry, blackberry, and aniseed that leap from the glass. Infectious flavors of choc-cherry, fresh plum, and licorice add to the wine's complexity, creating a seamless structure and a lingering finish. The grapes were grown on the Gateway vineyard in McLaren Vale. Barrel fermented and matured in 100% American oak, using 100% new barrels. The required Marquis Fruit Weight™ for the Love Series is 85% – 95%. The Actual Fruit Weight for 2023 Carnival of Love 88%.
