Wine Review: This translucent and ruby red colored Zinfandel from Morisoli opens with a brambleberry and red currant bouquet with hints of red plum, mulch, and black pepper. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, fresh, and very fruit forward. It is very old school styled. Those fruit flavors are a blend of stewed red plum, black pepper, and dried strawberry with notes of blackberry tea and clove. We also detected hints of cranberry, stony minerality, and milk chocolate. The finish is dry, and its bold flavors, fresh acidity, and dusty tannins stick around for a very long time. There is also some warmth that lingers as well. We would enjoy this Zin by the firepit on a chilly evening. With food we would pair it with lamb lollipops. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This is a field blend of predominantly Zinfandel is enhanced by; Alicante Bouschet, Carignan, Durif, Grand Noir de la Calmette, Muscat Hamburg, Négrette, Syrah, and Valdiguié. The wine is flush with wild berries, exotic spice, and fresh violets. Beneath the fruit, subtle notes of iron, earth, and minerality emerge, complemented by supple tannin integration.
