Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Malbec from Crocus in Cahors, France is excellent! It opens with a potting soil and blackberry bouquet with hints of cedar and black plum. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is beautifully balanced, smooth, and suave. The flavor profile is a ripe blackberry and black tea blend with notes of black plum and mild tobacco. I also detected hints of cedar, stone dust, and black pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and well-managed tannins drift away nicely. This Malbec is drinking beautifully now. I would pair this terrific Malbec with cassoulet de Toulouse. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Inky with a deep garnet-hued rim, this wine reveals remarkable depth and complexity. The concentrated black fruit core is laced with aromas of red and black currant, blackberry, and blueberry, accented by subtle hints of spice, umami/savory, sage, and dark chocolate. The palate is both velvety and vibrant, offering floral undertones, ripe plum, with a touch of new leather and tobacco leaf, all leading to a clean, refined finish.
