Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel opens with a shy boysenberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and zesty. The flavor profile is a black raspberry and stony minerality blend with notes of black plum and black tea. I also detected hints of oak, black cherry, and dark chocolate. The finish is dry and its flavors, acidity, and its dusty tannins stick around for quite some time. This Zin was well liked by the several folks that tried it. It paired very well with my braised beef short ribs at Cobblestones. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Luscious black raspberry and mixed berry pie aromas entice the senses. Aromas carry through the palate with a soft entry lifted by subtle baking spices, brambly heather and supported by pliable tannins. On the finish the wine is buoyed by a gentle lift of acidity, balancing the warmth of the vintage with vibrancy from cooler climate fruit. This wine is a vivid expression of the cooler growing season, where crisp, freshly picked fruit flavors shine, beautifully preserved by cool nights and an extended ripening period, yielding perfectly mature tannins. This wine will pair nicely with hearty dishes like short ribs or velvety pork belly.

We highly recommend that you check out the six Virginia wineries in this post. We will start from the south near Charlottesville in the Monticello AVA and make our way north. Read This Blog Post
