Wine Review: This garnet-colored Grenache from Limerick Lane opens with a very fragrant potting soil and black raspberry bouquet with hints of violets, black licorice, and oolong tea. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, silky smooth, and seamless. The flavor profile is a marionberry and loam blend with notes of red plum and graphite. I also detected some hints of maraschino cherry, mild red licorice, and nutmeg. The finish is dry, and its flavors and noticeable fine tannins build-up and linger for quite some time. There is also a little bit of heat present at the very end. This wine reminded me of a very polished cru level Beaujolais. I would pair this Grenache with a pan-seared duck breast with plum sauce. Enjoy - Ken
