Wine Review: This deep purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Patent opens with a blackberry and Tutti-Frutti Jelly Belly bouquet with hints of cherry-cola, cocoa, and cedar. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is well-balanced, smooth, and dense. The flavor profile is a ripe blackberry and black licorice blend with notes of black currant and stony minerality. We also detected hints of cherry-cola, black pepper, and tobacco. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and well-managed slightly dusty tannins linger nicely. We would pair this Cab with a Butcher Boy New York strip steak. Enjoy - KWGTP

A Visit To Virginia Wine Country – Fall 2026

The fall is a perfect time to plan a visit to Virginia Wine country. Ken and the KWG Tasting Panel have been covering the winning wines from the Virginia Governor’s Cup for years. Recently, our coverage has expanded beyond just the Governor’s Cup winners. Ken has been so impressed with Virginia wines that Theresa and he visited some wineries in the Charlottesville region in October of 2024. We highly recommend that you check out the six Virginia wineries in this post. We will start from the south near Charlottesville in the Monticello AVA and make our way north. Read This Blog Post
