Wine Review: This slightly opaque and very dark ruby colored Clone 169 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a red currant, violet and leather bouquet with hints of stewed plum and pine needles. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with notes of medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, bright and savory. The flavor profile is green olive and tart black currant blend with notes of graphite. We also detected some hints of dark chocolate, orange zest, oak, and marionberry mixed in. The finish is dry and its dusty tannins build-up and last for a very long time. The Tasting Panel would pair this Cab with Jiko’s wild boar, braised lamb shanks or with prime rib. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: This very limited bottling of the 2019 Clone 169 Cabernet Sauvignon is an outstanding demonstration of this unique vine. Aromas of violet and blueberry create a fragrant bouquet, complemented by notes of red currant and red raspberry. On the palate, a fresh elegance is coupled with great acidity and a supple mouthfeel. Sinewy and silky, the wine is approachable yet complex. Enjoyable now, this wine will continue to develop complexity in the bottle and age well for 20+ years.
