Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Malbec opens with a mulberry, orange, and black plum bouquet with hints of violets. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is beautifully balanced, smooth, and rich. The flavor profile is a blueberry and mulberry blend with notes of chalky minerality and chocolate liquor. We also detected hints of wild strawberry and cappuccino. The finish is dry, and its dusty fine tannins linger and last for a very long time. The Tasting Panel would pair this Malbec with a roast duck with orange and ginger. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: The 2020 DAOU Estate Malbec comes exclusively from our DAOU Mountain terroir and is a benchmark for Bordeaux varieties from the Adelaida District. Lovely fruit-driven aromas evoke plum, boysenberry, blueberry, cherry, and strawberry jam on buttered toast. Accompanying floral scents of violet and rose petal are interlaced with coffee, mocha, and a whisper of peppermint. Sumptuous and exuberant on the palate, this wine bursts with juicy flavors of cherry, cranberry and plum accented by dried strawberry, blueberry compote and crushed herbs. The finish is graceful and lengthy, predominating with cherry and blackberry while imparting a touch of sandalwood.
