Wine Review: This very deep ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon based wine is very South African in style. It opens with a smoky oak and new shoe leather bouquet with hints of Slim Jim and black plum. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is cedar plank and smoked meat blend with notes of mineral infused black plum and olive. We also detected hints of cardamom and oregano. The finish is dry and its flavors, acidity and moderate tannins are nicely extended. The Panel would pair this wine with wild boar appetizers or with a beef, pork and veal meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: The exquisitely expressive De Toren Fusion V 2017 unveils intense aromas of juicy red cherries and ripe blueberries. It further compels with supporting nuances of perfume, creamy notes of cassis and an understated, underlining chalky minerality. The wine is beautifully textured, with detailed fruit flavors of creamy blackberries. Dense, yet vibrant the wine lingers with soft, fine grain tannins, inviting one’s senses for the next sip.
