Wine Review: This deep ruby colored blend from Kanonkop opens with a cured meat and fig bouquet with hints of cedar. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a very traditional South African red blend. It features Slim Jim flavors along with cedar, fig, and red plum. I also detected hints of red raspberry and cinnamon mixed in. The finish is dry, and its moderate tannins are tamed. This wine is a rustic South African style. It is a very good weekday offering to pair with grilled Brats with sautéed red peppers or with a lamb burger. Enjoy - Ken
