Wine Review: This Pinot is one to seriously consider for Christmas dinner. It is very dark ruby colored and opens with a plum and mild red beet bouquet. On the palate this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced and very approachable. The flavor profile is a tasty mild plum with hints of black currant and gentle boysenberry in the distant background. It also detected a touch of black pepper. The finish is dry and its flavors drift away nicely. This is a very food friendly Pinot that would pair perfectly with roasted duck breast. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This 2010 Georganne is dark in color – a result of a tiny crop of less than one ton per acre. The aroma opens with dark chocolate, mocha and savory oak layered over a base of black cherry fruit and cassis. A heady perfume of blue violets, blackberry blossoms and tiny fraise du bois adds intrigue. It is succulent on the palate with round, sweet tannins and a bit of tarry fruit, reflecting its clone 37 heritage. Incredibly dense and concentrated, this bold wine will unfold over many years to come, revealing even more layers of complexity.
