Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Merry Edwards opens with an inviting black cherry and Earl grey tea bouquet with hints of black raspberry and licorice. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, concentrated, and savory. The flavor profile is stewed black plum and black pepper blend with notes of extracted black raspberry and tea. I also detected hints of oak, red licorice, and orange zest. The finish is dry and its flavors, acidity, and resolved mild tannins drift away nicely. I would pair this Pinot Noir with duck à l'orange. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir displays a unique and specific regionality. This wine is distinctly coastal, with bright, buoyant acidity that sets it apart from wines made from our warmer sites. It is made to be enjoyed from the time of its release, either with food or as a lovely aperitif. In the 2022 vintage, aromas of rose petals, ripe cherries, blueberries, and sandalwood waft from the glass, accompanied by notes of vanilla, cinnamon and plum. The entry is smooth and ripe, with a slightly spicy mouthfeel that is elegant and balanced. This wine finishes long and light on its feet.
