Wine Review: This dark ruby colored red blend from South Africa opens of cigar box, green olive, and black raspberry bouquet with hints of pencil shavings. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and nicely coats your mouth. The flavor profile is a crushed stone, cedar, stewed black plum and pomegranate blend with notes of tart red cherry. The finish is quite dry and its flavors and tannins build-up and stick around for quite some time. This red blend would pair very nicely with a flat iron steak. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: Jasper Red Blend is a tribute to Bruwer's late father, Jasper, who was one of Raats' founders and the viticulturist for nine years. This complex Cabernet Franc-driven Bordeaux blend shows blackberry and black cherry on the nose, along with the perfume and violets one would expect from an 60% Cabernet Franc wine. The palate offers luscious brambly berry fruit intertwined with hints of tobacco, anise, and dark chocolate. Silky tannins caress the palate, and a lovely minerality shines through on the long, supple finish.
