Wine Review: This pitch-black colored Syrah from Robert Foley was well received by the Panel in our blind tasting. It opens with a blackberry and wet stone bouquet with hints of brownie batter and juniper. On the palate, this wine is full bodied and balanced. The flavor profile is a stewed plum and with notes of stony minerality. We also detected hints of black coffee, white pepper and oak. The finish is dry and its chewy tannins build up and linger for a while. The Panel suggested pairing this tasty Syrah with beef bourguignon. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: This is 100% Syrah! From one single block. Fewer than 200 cases are produced each year from a Calistoga vineyard block at the extreme north end of the Valley. The 2016 is fruit-focused, black and red currant flavors with an insinuation of mocha couple with abundant mid-palate tannin while the edges remain gentle and smooth. The ripe flavors sustain in the finish that goes on and on!
