Wine Review: This midnight purple colored blend from Robert Foley opens with a blackberry and boysenberry bouquet with hints of black tea. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, and the wine is zesty. The flavor profile is black raspberry and black tea blend with notes of sage, stony minerality, and red currant. I also detected hints of dark chocolate, cherry and cardamon towards the end. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins are nicely prolonged. This wine is Bistro friendly and would pair nicely with your favorite pub burger or grilled streak tips. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: Like its namesake, this Griffin is a powerful combination of strengths. The blended characters of Petite Sirah, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Charbono, and Syrah deliver rich raspberry flavors balanced with fresh acidity. Having just enough grip in the finish makes this a very approachable, versatile, food-friendly red wine. This year’s bottling offers a well-balanced blend of classic claret varieties (Merlot and Petit Verdot) and my favorite Rhone-rooted varieties of Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Charbono.
