Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Syrah based blend from Robert Foley opens with a fragrant blackberry and Australian black licorice bouquet with hints of birch beer soda. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated restrained medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, dense, and rich. The flavor profile is very complex and features a tasty blend of Australian black licorice and ripe blackberry with notes of birch beer and gentle red currant. I also detected hints of graphite, black pepper, cocoa powder, and toasted oak. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and friendly well-managed moderate tannins drift away nicely. This impressive red blend would pair well with most grilled meats off the barbecue. I personally would pair it with braised short ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Like its namesake, this Griffin is a powerful combination of strengths. Ripe black and red berry fruit abound! Full-bodied and mouthcoating, this fine red blend is all about fresh clean fruit with ultra-soft tannins and a long lingering finish. The Griffin blend will satisfy every need for a red wine!
