Wine Review: Siduri makes some of the best Pinots for around $20. This one is no exception. This dark ruby colored Pinot opens with a funky burnt oak and black raspberry bouquet. So be sure to decant or swirl the wine if that is an issue for you. Then upon tasting the wine you will find it to be rather tasty. It is medium bodied, balanced, and fruit forward. On the palate, this wine displays enjoyable strawberry and black raspberry flavors with a touch of gentle oak in the background. The finish is dry and its mild dusty oak flavors linger on after the wine is gone. This Pinot is one for readers who like lots of fruit flavors, yet do don't mind the presence of some integrated oak. I would pair it with cherry amaretto chicken with mashed potatoes or a grilled veal chop. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: The 2009 Siduri Sonoma County Pinot Noir is a blend of six different vineyards from the Sonoma Coast, Sonoma Mountain, and Russian River appellations. Specifically, it is a blend of Sonatera Vineyard Pinot Noir, along with Van der Kamp, Sapphire Hill, Forestville, Parsons', and Lewis Vineyards. It may be the best Sonoma County Pinot Noir we have yet made. Full of rich red and black fruits, with hints of vanilla from the oak, and a creamy, seamless texture, this is truly everything we could wish for in our Appellation blend.
